Rating Presidents by 2015 NPS Site Visits

I found a report showing how many folks visited 368 of the NPS sites in 2015.  And I thought it would be interesting to list the presidents in order of their site visits.

Lincoln Memorial (4)
George Washington Memorial Parkway (6)
FDR Memorial (27)
Thomas Jefferson Memorial (31)
Jefferson Memorial (48)
Theodore Roosevelt National Park (110)
Washington Monument (123)
Lincoln Home (168)
LBJ Memorial Grove (169)
Adams (188)
Home of FDR (190)
Theodore Roosevelt Island (200)
Lincoln Birthplace (205)
Washington Birthplace (214)
Herbert Hoover (216)
LBJ (219)
Lincoln Boyhood (226)
Jimmy Carter (259)
Eleanor Roosevelt (262) (sorry, couldn't resist)
Eisenhower (276)
Andrew Johnson (286)
Ulysses Grant (295)
Harry Truman (309)
Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural (320)
James Garfield (322)
William Howard Taft (323)
Martin van Buren (332)
John F. Kennedy (333)
W. J. Clinton Birthplace (347)
Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace (356)

Lincoln and Washington leading the list is no surprise.  But Kennedy behind Hoover, Johnson (both), Eisenhower, Grant, Garfield, Taft, Carter, and van Buren?  Never would have guessed that...

Fixing The Numbers

So, I recently signed up for the National Park Traveler's Club, which has a nice tool for tracking NPS site visits.  And discovered that two of the parks I have listed here - don't count.  Well, rather, Jamestown and Yorktown count as one, and the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor doesn't count.

So the next park will, technically, be #58 for us, rather than #60.  I'm not going to go back and correct the previous numbers, but I am going to use the NPTC list, as it seems to align better with the NPS count.

And Now For A Word

I've been trying to catch up this month; my intent is to provide more "just there" thoughts than I've been able to up to this point. And I'm getting there; I've got seven and a half more to go to catch up, and the more recent of these was visited less than a week ago.

The Quest

I have created this blog to document the quest that Megan and I have embarked upon - to visit all of the US National Parks. Now, we aren't campers, and not big hikers (though not opposed to a reasonable trail or three if it's not 100 degrees out), so anyone wishing to hear about those experiences will be out of luck here.

Unlike my gaming blog, I have decided to leave this blog open to anyone to read. I would greatly appreciate it if you would add a comment to this post if you read this blog, as I'd like to know just who is reading.
